I consider it one of the greatest honours on earth to be given the privilege of loving my fellow broken human beings. Let me explain. The more I see the love of Jesus for me and the amount of grace He has extended towards my brokenness, the more I consider it a gift to be able to pass it on to others.
This truly is a miracle. I no longer need to love only the easy to handle, because I am extending grace and love based on what I've received, not what is deserved.
This means I can look at those who've hurt me the most and see pain and need in their lives as well. This means that I can extend grace in even the worst situations, because I remember I didn't deserve forgiveness either.
And what joy and beauty and freedom there is in extending love without strings attached, without needing to receive in return.
We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19
